Barry's Reflection Garden — Community Rebuild

📍 New Albany, INCompleted 2025-09-06
About this project

Twelve-week community revitalization alongside Hoosier Action and the New Albany community. A neglected lot on State Street was transformed into a public reflection space named for Barry Duncan — the kind of work that starts with demolition and grading and ends with neighbors being able to sit, think, and remember somewhere quiet. Cornerstone's part of the project covered the hardscape and site work: full concrete installation, drainage to keep the space usable year-round, and the civil prep underneath that makes a public garden last. Twelve weeks, several crews cycling through, and a lot of coordination with Hoosier Action on layout and memorial elements. Projects like this are part of why we do this trade. Not every job is about repairing damage — some are about building something new for people who need a place to process grief. This one meant a lot to the whole crew.
