The highlight: a beautiful 43' curved retaining wall featuring Cobalt wall block, decorative Alabama Sunset river rock, natural Spaghetti Rock boulders, and carefully selected plantings including Yuccas, Sahara Blackbird, and a miniature Bonfire Georgia Peach tree. The result is a clean, low-maintenance landscape that will provide beauty, curb appeal, and value for years to come. Outside the Champions Point project, the crew worked all over Southern Indiana this week. A quick tour of what we tackled: β’ Tuckpointing & masonry repairs β old mortar ground out and replaced with color-matched mix, including a full tuckpointed CMU column where the downspout ties in. Restores weather resistance and stops water from migrating through joints into the home. β’ Channel drains β new linear channel drains cut in and tied into existing drainage, capturing water at door thresholds before it pools and works its way into basements or crawl spaces. β’ Extensive residential brick repair β repointing and rebuilding mortar joints around windows and at the foundation line on a residential brick home. The kind of repair that's done by hand, one course at a time. β’ Crawl space mold remediation β visible mold growth on floor joists addressed at the source: cleaned, treated, and moisture corrected so it doesn't come back. Pairs with vapor barrier work and drainage where needed. β’ New crawl space entryway β a proper exterior crawl space access opening installed for an older home that didn't have one. Makes future inspection and any future work straightforward, instead of squeezing through a vent. β’ Concrete step repairs, sump pump install, additional custom masonry β all wrapped this week as well. Grateful for every homeowner who continues to trust us with their homes, referrals, and projects. Built on Faith and sealed with Quality.

Finished pour: a 43-foot curved driveway addition in the Champions Point neighborhood in Henryville. Sequence: 1. Form set with the curve laid out to follow the existing sidewalk and yard line, blue tape edge masking against the public sidewalk to keep the joint crisp. 2. Compacted gravel sub-base β properly tamped so the finished slab has uniform support and won't settle unevenly through freeze-thaw cycles. 3. #4 rebar grid laid in tied at every intersection β this is what keeps a curved slab from cracking at the radius. 4. Pour and finish β broom-finish surface for grip in wet weather, edges tooled clean to the form. The homeowner picked up a second parking spot AND a curb-appeal upgrade in the same project. A curved driveway is harder to lay out and pour than a rectangular one β every form-board has to bend evenly, every rebar segment has to follow the curve, and the finish has to stay uniform through the radius. Done right the first time.

Multiple concrete repair jobs this week β patched up plumbing access cuts with clean broom finishes, graded so water moves away from the foundation. A bad patch is how foundation problems start.

Multiple window installs this week β egress and basement windows, with wells, protective caps, and topsoil graded away from the house. Code-compliant escape routes, real natural light, and a tighter weather seal.

Removed mold this week and traced the moisture back to its source so it does not come back. Remediation without fixing the leak is a temporary fix; healthier indoor air is the goal.

Just wrapped up this egress window install! We'll be adding another Monday morning plus the special-order caps, and our drywall guys will be in next week for the interior finish. An egress window isn't just about code β it adds natural light and real value to the home, creates a safe exit, and helps protect against water issues when done right. If your basement feels dark, damp, or outdated, this is one of the best upgrades you can make. We handle everything: excavation, proper drainage, clean professional install. π Locally owned. We've had the chance to use Liquid Stone here in Clarksville a couple times this week on some smaller projects, and they've been solid to work with. They can handle loads up to around 10 yards, but where they really shine is those smaller 2β4 yard pours β perfect for tight jobs or when you don't want to pay for a full truck. Good pricing, and the best part is the truck mixes on-site, so you're only paying for what you actually use. No waste. Always good to have another reliable option in the area. We just launched a complete refresh of our website. New features include interactive diagnostic tools, a 150+ photo project gallery, before/after sliders, plain-language guides and a full glossary for homeowners, community program pages, and this weekly feed so you can see what we've been working on. Built to be honest, useful, and fast β no pop-ups, no fake urgency. If something could be improved, let us know.

Heavy rain in the forecast is a good reminder to check the basics around your home. Clean gutters and downspouts, make sure water is routed away from the foundation, look for low spots in the yard where water pools near the house, and check the basement or crawl space before and after the storm. Little things keep little problems little. If you're seeing water where it shouldn't be or you're not sure how your home is going to handle the next downpour, give us a call β (812) 850-5320. Worked on an exterior stucco application this week. Proper prep is everything with stucco β the base coat, lath, and weather barrier underneath determine whether the stucco lasts 30 years or starts failing in 5.

Wrapped up a concrete patio and walkway project this week β 16'Γ20' of broom-finish concrete with a decorative picture-frame border. The picture-frame technique creates a clean visual edge and also acts as a control joint to direct where shrinkage cracks form over time. Full sub-base prep below the slab β because the concrete on top is only as good as what's under it. That's why we over-spec the base on every pour.

Old retaining wall was failing β bulging, cracked, and letting soil migrate through. Customer had been watching it get worse for a couple of years. We tore it out, excavated back to stable soil, and rebuilt from scratch with a segmental block system. Proper compacted base, drainage behind the wall, and a finished cap. Should be good for the next several decades.

Aging brick stairway with crumbling mortar joints. Instead of rebuilding (expensive, destroys character), we tuckpointed it β ground out the old mortar, repacked with color-matched mix, and sealed it up. Tuckpointing is one of the highest-leverage masonry repairs. A $X,XXX tuckpoint job buys decades more life on a brick structure that would otherwise cost 10Γ to rebuild.

Big one this week. Failing foundation + cracked masonry on an older home. Stabilized the whole thing with a concrete pier system β piers driven down to load-bearing strata, foundation brought back toward level, cracked masonry addressed in sequence. This is the type of job that doesn't fix itself. Every year it waits, fewer options remain and the fix gets more expensive. Caught this one in time.

Main crawl space support beam was shot β sagging floors above, visible deflection, beam itself was cracking. We rebuilt the beam completely and added 6 new concrete piers to carry the load. Sagging floors are almost always a crawl space problem. If your floors feel bouncy or you can see them slope with a marble, there's likely a beam or joist issue below. Free inspection is how we find out for sure.

Full crawl space moisture system install. Interior drainage channel around the perimeter routed to a sump pit, heavy-duty vapor barrier across the floor and up the walls. The crawl space is now a dry, sealed environment instead of a source of rising humidity. Next step we're discussing with the homeowner: a dedicated crawl space dehumidifier to keep the space below 60% RH year-round.

Cut-in egress window install from scratch. Well, escape ladder, window unit, and drainage lid β full code-compliant package. Two big wins for the homeowner: 1) it's now legal sleeping space (big resale value bump), and 2) the basement actually gets natural light. The drainage lid is easy to overlook but critical β without it, the well fills up in a heavy rain and you've created a basement flood entry point.

Water-damaged floor joists sistered with new lumber to restore structural capacity. But β and this is the important part β we also addressed the moisture source below. Without that, the replacement wood would be in the same condition in 5-10 years. Fixing rotted wood without fixing the water is rearranging deck chairs. It's why we almost always end up recommending moisture correction alongside joist work.

Proud to partner with Liquid Stone (liquidstonecrete.com) on concrete jobs that need precise volume, consistent quality, and on-demand freshness. Their volumetric mixers bring sand, stone, cement, and water to the site and mix per-job β meaning the mix you pour is the mix that was just made, not something that rode an hour from a batch plant. For smaller pours, repairs, or jobs with tight tolerances, this matters: no short loads, no waste, no waiting on a truck that can only serve you once. Different tool for a different category of work. Encapsulation changes the air in the whole house. Rising damp through crawl-space soil carries moisture and microbes up into the living space β that's the musty smell homeowners blame on the basement. Full encapsulation: clear and clean the crawl, repair any water intrusion at grade, install drain tile if needed, then seal the floor and walls with heavy vapor barrier taped and fastened at every seam. Finish with a dehumidifier sized to the volume. The floor stops being a source. Originally posted on Facebook Β· facebook.com/CornerstoneFAW

When a home settles, the fix isn't putting a shim under something and hoping. It's engineered support β concrete or steel piers driven to stable soil, beams sized to the load, connections that can carry the span for the life of the house. Every structural support job we do carries a transferable warranty. If you sell, the next owner keeps the coverage. That matters because real foundation fixes outlive ownership, and the warranty should follow the work. Originally posted on Facebook Β· facebook.com/CornerstoneFAW

Cracked, heaved, or sunken sidewalks are trip hazards β and they'll funnel water right to your foundation if the slope has flipped. We demo the failed section, re-grade the sub-base, set proper control joints so the next cracks hide in the joints where they belong, and finish clean. Not a cosmetic patch. A full replacement at the right thickness, at the right slope, with proper drainage. Originally posted on Facebook Β· facebook.com/CornerstoneFAW

Masonry failures look cosmetic until the water gets behind the wall. Loose brick, spalled face, blown-out mortar joints β every one of them is a crack water can work through, and water getting behind brick is the start of real structural damage. The fix isn't surface patching. It's properly ground-out joints, color-matched tuckpointing, replacement of spalled units, and flashing corrected at openings. Restores weather resistance and keeps the wall doing its job for decades. Originally posted on Facebook Β· facebook.com/CornerstoneFAW

Garage slabs take abuse β vehicle weight, salt in winter, thermal swings, dropped tools. Most failures trace back to what happened BEFORE the pour: the base prep, the slope, the joint layout, the thickness. Do those right and the slab lasts a lifetime. Recent garage work ran the full sequence: demo the failed slab, compact the base, set proper reinforcement and expansion joints, pour at code thickness, and finish with a broom surface that stays grippy under tire. Sharing photos of the process. Originally posted on Facebook Β· facebook.com/CornerstoneFAW

Just finished today: several floor joists and top plates repaired, additional concrete piers installed to get the floors back to level. We also dug out two rooms to give the crawl space proper clearance for future service work. This is the kind of job where the homeowner feels the fix the second they walk across the room β no more soft spots, no more bounce. Doors that had started sticking operate like they should again. Permanent fix, not a cosmetic patch. Originally posted on Facebook Β· facebook.com/CornerstoneFAW
This homeowner had several different waterproofing contractors out over the years and dished out lots of money on failed attempts to stop the water in their basement. Within the first walkthrough we could see the real problem β and the fix none of the others had put in place. If you've already paid once (or twice) to fix a wet basement and it's still wet, that doesn't mean nothing works. It means the wrong thing was done. Get a second opinion from a contractor who'll tell you what's actually going on down there. Originally posted on Facebook Β· facebook.com/CornerstoneFAW
This week Cornerstone Foundation and Waterproofing, LLC got to invest a little bit into our own home. We poured a 20'x25' patio extension β decorative picture-frame border with a broom-finish center. Clean, modern, and built to hold up to Indiana freeze-thaw seasons. We take the same approach on our own property that we take on every customer job: proper sub-base, proper depth, and crews that care about the details. We're grateful to have played a part in revitalizing Barry's Reflection Garden in New Albany. Over twelve weeks of work alongside Hoosier Action and the local community, this project helped bring a meaningful public space back to life on State Street. Projects like this are why we do this work. A neglected lot became a quiet place neighbors can sit, think, and remember β named for Barry Duncan, and shaped by the hands of people who live here. This one meant a lot to the whole crew. If your property needs drainage, structural, concrete, or exterior improvement work, Cornerstone is here to help β (812) 850-5320.
